My name is Greg Rickard, I recently started in my new role as Director of Human Resources in October 2022 for Mushkegowuk Council. I am Moose Cree First Nation member. I have worked in different capacities with different First Nations organizations like Weenebayko Area Health Authority, Nishnawbe Aski Police Services, and Payukotayno – James & Hudson Bay Family Services. My work experience has given me opportunities to work with our Mushkegowuk members and communities. I graduated from Business – Human Resources at Confederation College and I am working towards my degree in Governance, Law, and Management with Athabasca University.
The Human Resources department is responsible for helping Mushkegowuk Council achieve its mission through various administrative and strategic functions. The HR Department contributes to the organization’s growth and human capital needs. The department is responsible for managing the employee life cycle which involves recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, compensation, and benefit administration, and offboarding processes. The HR Department ensures the organization remains in compliance with all governing legislation. The department is responsible for the development and continual review of internal policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the Council strategic objectives and to adhere to all legislative changes. The HR Department aims to support all employees within the organization and maintain all personnel records as mandated by law. Lastly, the HR Department plays a vital role in contributing to a positive and healthy work culture. Our department acts as a support to our seven first nation communities, directors, and employees alike.
