Since First Light we the Omushkegowuk have been provided the opportunity of living the good life on the abundant land we call home. The magnitude of our collective strength intensifies as we nurture our relationship with the land and share our traditional knowledge with one another.
Our greatest leaders understand this source of collective strength and use it to inspire us to make the best for ourselves and families. They exemplify the fulfillment attained in upholding a close relationship with the land and are eager to share the knowledge it takes to do so.
Through relentless spirit and an entire lifetime on the land, Abraham Hunter has rightfully placed himself within the most prestigious parts of our collective story. His unwavering determination in ensuring that we all could continue living off the land is the quality that made him a true leader of Omushkegowuk.
Affirming through unyielding practice Abraham ensured his duty of propelling our tradition could not be more complete. We have lost a great leader in Abraham but through his resolute effort in life prosperity amongst coming generations will grow.
Our condolences to your family and community Abraham, and may your relentless spirit continue to inspire us to reach for the good life on the land. Your accomplishments as a leader will be felt for generations to come and our appreciation will remain above measurement forever.
