RESOLUTION NO. 1986-3

SUBJECT: CLOSURE OF LCBO

WHEREAS that the assembly of Chiefs and Councillors and Elders of the James & Hudson Bay corrmunities (Ontario) have, over the years, tolerated the ramifications that the LCBO outlet at Łoosonee through the sale of intoxicants;

WHEREAS that this outlet has devastated the whole familv settinq and will continue to devastate the peoples of Jarnes & Hudson Bay of which it has done for the las 14 years if the LCBO outlet is not closed;

WHEREAS the assembly appreciates that the avail­ability of intoxicants will not be eradicated, but will most certainly drastically cut down the devastation it is causinq to the family environment of the James & Hudson Bay area;

¼7HEREAS it is well known that oolice and hospital statistics are on record that this outlet has caused for nearly 14 years;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this general assembly hereby requests to the Ontario r-0vernrrent through the HonourableŁRene Fontaine our local M.P.P, to phase out the Moosonee store at a prescribed date to be announced in the next three months;

FURI'HERTvlORE that the said facility be converted into the most useful service being a rehab. centre for alcoholics in the lonq term.
