Timber proposal of the moose band development corporation

RESOLUTION NO. 1987-19

SUBJECT: TIMBER PROPOSAL OF THE MOOSE BAND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

WHEREAS the Moose Band has mandated the creation of the Moose Band Development Corpora­tion for the purpose of developing the business interests of the members of the Moose Band, and;

WHEREAS the Corporation has submitted to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources a joint venture proposal to harvest timber in the Moose River Management Unit, and;

WHEREAS the Ministry has failed to give the proposal serious consideration;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs of the Mushkegowuk Bands strongly support the Moose Band Development Corporation's timber proposal, and instruct the Chairman and appropriate staff of the Mushkegowuk Council to assist in obtaining the special intervention of the Minister of Natural Resources and the Premier of Ontario.
