RESOLUTION NO. 1987-21

SUBJECT: CANADIAN JOBS STRATEGY PROGRAM

WHERAS the Canadian Jobs Strategy Program under the Ministry of Employment and Immigration designed to train Canadians for jobs, has identified native people as one of the four target groups, and;

WHEREAS it has been identified that the Canadian Jobs Strategy does not address the real and special needs of the native people, and;

WHEREAS it has been identified that the said program's rigid and formidable criteria practically makes the program inaccessible to northern native communities, and;

WHEREAS these concerns were addressed and recommendations made at an All Ontario Economic/ Employment Conference held on July 12-16, 1987 with native participation from elev.en "INAC Districts";

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the Chiefs of the Mushkegowuk Council Bands, support the recommendations that resulted from this conference and the presentation of these recommendations to the Minister of Employment and Immigration Canada.
