RESOLUTION NO. 1987-30
SUBJECT: SALE OR TRANSFER OF OUR LAND
WHEREAS we, the Mushkegowuk people, have never surrendered our land, and;
WHEREAS we, the Mushkegowuk people, have been chosen to be custodians of the land and still exercise the function, and;
WHEREAS we must always ensure that future generations will continue to use the land, whether for traditional pursuits or for economic ventures such as tourism and industrial development, and;
WHEREAS the sale of our traditional lands to people who are not Mushkegowuk Council people will erode this land base and threaten our sovereignty within our traditional homeland.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Assembly disapproves the sale or transfer of our lands in general, and camps in particular, to anyone who is not a member of the Mushkegowuk Council.
