RESOLUTION NO. 1987-32

SUBJECT: AFN TREATY UNIT

WHEREAS the Treaty Unit of the Assembly of First Nations which met in Winnipeg in April 23, 1987 resolved:

THAT the spirit and intent of the Treaties must be strongly upheld in any national, regional or district negotiations process, and;

THAT Treaties must retain priority status across the country, and;

THAT all Treaty Groups should work together for a clear consensus emphasizing solidarity.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the Treaty Indians of James and Hudson Bay, of Treaty No. 9 which was signed in 1905-06 and 1929-30, support and work together with the Treaty Unit of the Assembly of First Nations to come up with a national consensus on the Constitutional position of Treaty Nations of Canada.
