RESOLUTION NO. 1987-59

SUBJECT: ONTARIO HYDRO REMOTE COMMUNITIES ELECTRIFICATION PROGRAM

WHEREAS Ontario Hydro and Indian and Northern Affairs have put forward a program proposal to deal with electrification issues in Nishnawbe-Aski Nation territory, and;

WHEREAS aspects of this proposal are un­acceptable to Nishnawbe-Aski Nation, and;

WHEREAS the Executive Council, Tribal Chair­man and Independent Band representatives mandated to work on this issue, specifically to meet with Ontario Hydro and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in early August 1987 to review this proposal and adopt an appropriate position to support or amend, or reject the program proposals.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council fully supports Nishnawbe-Aski Nation's initiative in protecting the interests of the communities.
