RESOLUTION NO. 1989-100
SUBJECT: TRANSLATION/TERMINOLOGY PROGRAM
WHEREAS the present educational system serving First Nations has made little effort to encourage and support the use of First Nations' languages in the curriculum;
AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Elders have voiced their concern over the gradual decrease in the knowledge and use of the Cree language by the youth;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council attempt to open a Translation and Terminology program to be operated by Elders to produce Cree dictionaries and books to benefit the Mushkegowuk youth and people working with the Mushkegowuk.
