Self-Government accords with Canada and Ontario

RESOLUTION NO. 1990-131

SELF-GOVERNMENT ACCORDS WITH CANADA AND ONTARIO

WHEREAS the inherent right to self­government rests at the local level;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk First Nations of western James and Hudson Bay wish to work together to meet the needs and aspirations of their citizens;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk First Nations have joined together to form the Mushkegowuk Council;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk First Nations have developed their own self-government process, known as "Partners in Change" for addressing issues of treaty and aboriginal rights and governance in our region;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Assembly endorses the attached Accords to be signed with Canada and Ontario.
