Self-Government Discussion Paper

RESOLUTION NO. 1993-17

Subject: Self-Government Discussion Paper

WHEREAS the Board of Chiefs at their November 1992 special meeting developed a discussion paper on self-government containing six priority areas;

AND WHEREAS community consultations have and will continue to occur on the contents of the discussion paper;

AND WHEREAS the discussion paper, through the Chairman's report at the 8th Annual Assembly, was discussed and accepted at the Assembly;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Assembly supports the six priority areas as listed:

-legislative and policy change

-creation of a Natural Resource Secretariat

-hydro electric power generation

-migratory birds

-treaty and aboriginal rights

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman and the technical staff lobby and work towards recognition of those priorities with regular consultations and updates to individual First Nations and the Board of Chiefs.
