RESOLUTION NO. 1994-03-08

Sagashtawao Healing Lodge

WHEREAS the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge was established to help our people heal themselves from the devastating effects of alcohol and illegal drug use and the abuse of medical drugs, and

WHEREAS one of the primary goals of Sagashtawao Healing Lodge is to support and encourage a lifestyle free from alcohol use and drug abuse, and

WHEREAS the Board of Directors and staff of Sagashtawao Healing Lodge can act as positive role models for their clients and for all community members,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council member communities strongly recommend that the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge member communities adopt a Drug and Alcohol Policy which will provide guidelines for all staff and board members, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the policy will encourage the communities to appoint board members who are known for their long-time sobriety and drug-free lifestyle, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the policy restrict all staff and board members from all alcohol consumption and illegal/non­medical use of drugs while they are associated with the Healing Lodge.
