RESOLUTION NO. 1994-10-04

SUBJECT: CREE AS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF MUSHKEGOWUK COUNCIL

WHEREAS the Elders who are the foundation and nucleus of the Mushkegowuk Nation retain and transmit traditions and philosophy to the younger generations;

WHEREAS communication and understanding is the key to maximize the teachings of the Elders;

WHEREAS we as role models must be able to show direction and encourage the youth that the Cree language holds a special place in our society;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the 9th Annual Assembly of the Mushkegowuk council recognize their Cree language as the Official Language of the Mushkegowuk Council with English as a second language;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all reports presented to the Assembly must be provided in both Cree and English whenever feasible.
