Surcharge for winter road use

RESOLUTION NO. 1994-10-15

SUBJECT: SURCHARGE FOR WINTER ROAD USE

WHEREAS the Pasico Development corporation has moved to manage and maintain the winter road from Moosonee north to Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat;

AND WHEREAS the Province of Ontario has cut funding to allow for full maintenance of the winter road;

AND WHEREAS this will present financial hardships for Pasico Development Corporation in maintaining the winter road;

AND WHEREAS this link is vital to supplying goods and services by winter road to these communities;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly endorses Pasico Development Corporation to charge $.OS/pound on commercial use of the winter road starting in the 94/95 hauling season.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the revenues generated be used to maintain the winter road.
