SUBJECT: POST SECONDARY FUNDING
WHEREAS the Government has devolved to First Nations and Education Authorities the management and the administration of educational programs for their First Nation members;
WHEREAS the First Nations and Education Authorities have been allocated limited funds to administer these programs;
WHEREAS the funding allocation for post secondary has been capped by INAC despite the growing number of students who have been accepted into College and University programs;
WHEREAS this Assembly recognizes the need to explore creative and innovative ways of making funding available to students;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly directs the Mushkegowuk Council to study and report to the next Annual Assembly, on the development of a First Nation post secondary revolving loan fund for students whose application for educational assistance has not been approved due to lack of funding.
