Support for Establishing Co-operatives

RESOLUTION NO. 1995-10-30

SUBJECT: SUPPORT FOR ESTABLISHING CO­OPERATIVES

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk people have the desire to set its own financial policies on monies generated from its own economic activities;

WHEREAS the monies generated from local Co-operatives can be used to assist in financing community projects such as Elders Homes, Youth Centres, Housing, etc.;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council examine the feasibility of establishing Co-operatives (Stores, Gas Stations, Bakeries, Motels, etc.) owned and operated by the First Nations and/or its members to be located in their respective communities.
