RESOLUTION NO. 1995-10-33
SUBJECT: EUROPEAN FUR BAN
WHEREAS the European government is planning on implementing regulation #3254/91 banning all fur buying in Europe;
WHEREAS the regulation is unnecessary and will severely harm Aboriginal communities in our traditional ways of life, as well as causing hardship to other remote communities;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council strongly urges that the implementation of European Regulation #3254/91 be postponed until such time as international trap standards are established and implemented, thereby contributing to the improvement of trapping for all purposes worldwide.
