RESOLUTION NO. 1997-08-15
SUBJECT: DISTRIBUTION OF
FUNDS ALLOCATED TO
MISSANABIE CREE FIRST
NATION BY VARIOUS GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
WHEREAS there is a requirement adopted by various government agencies that a First Nation must be situated on a land base before its funds are forwarded to it for its specific use; and
WHEREAS the funding that is set aside for delivery of services to Missanabie Cree First Nation's members are lost in general revenues and therefore sometimes spent elsewhere in other municipalities or communities; and
WHEREAS the Missanabie Cree First Nation has the desire to have the funds allocated from various government agencies for delivery of services to its members be set aside in an interest bearing account;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the Missanabie Cree First Nation in their negotiations with Provincial and Federal Government agencies to have existing programme
funds intended for services for Missanabie members separated and transferred to the control of the Missanabie Cree First Nation to serve the community needs of their members, and that additional funds for community administration and enhancement of these services and programmes also be negotiated.
