RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-08

SUBJECT: YOUTH PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT PROPOSAL

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly have a mandate to support its youth initiatives; and

WHEREAS many First Nations in Mushkegowuk Territory have already recognized the overwhelmingly positive impact that the Self-Improvement Courses offered through KW is having on the youth of our communities; and

WHEREAS the KW Board in response to continued requests for Self­Improvement Courses from First Nations wishes to establish a permanent department that can give youth programs the priority that they deserve and can provide training and support on a continuing basis; and

WHEREAS KW no longer has. funding with which to continue to offer these important opportunities for Mushkegowuk youth;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the proposal as put forth by KW to establish a Youth Programs Department of the Mushkegowuk Council through submission to the Mushkegowuk Employment and Training Services First Nation's Regional and
