RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-20
SUBJECT: FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM
WHEREAS fire protection has been identified as a major concern with the First Nations of the Mushkegowuk Council; and
WHEREAS a need exists for the expansion and strengthening of fire protection programs in the three main areas of Fire Prevention, Fire Suppression and Fire Causes and Determination; and
WHEREAS an opportunity exists at the present time to develop a more comprehensive Fire Protection Program;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly recognize the need for a comprehensive Mushkegowuk Fire Protection Program; and
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the leadership and staff of the Council are directed to work toward the development of such a Program; and
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funding be sought from INAC to extend existing Mushkegowuk fire programs and staff as a critical step toward such a Program.
