Continuing Resolution For the Further Development of the Constitution for a Mushkegowuk Government

RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-04

CONTINUING RESOLUTION FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION FOR A MUSHKEGOWUK GOVERNMENT

WHEREAS the 14th Annual Assembly passed Resolution No. 1999-09-09: "Draft Constitution of the Mushkegowuk Regional Government"; and

WHEREAS a draft constitution has been prepared, translated and disseminated to the Mushkegowuk people; and

WHEREAS the development of the draft constitution is the first step in an implementation process that will lead to the ratification and adoption of a formal constitution creating a Mushkegowuk government; and

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council affirms that the process of nation building and constitutional development is a high prio1ity;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Chiefs and staff of Mushkegowuk Council are directed to can-y out the attached "Implementation Plan August 2000-March 2002 to bring about the ratification and adoption of a forn1al constitution creating the Mushkegowuk Govenm1ent; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the

Grand Chief and Deputy Grand Chief are authorized to create a representative task force who are dedicated to this work; and

FINALLY BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk communities continue to be consulted and advised of the progress of this Implementation Plan.
