Support for KAshechewan FNs Access to Quality Nursing Services on a Twenty Four Hour Basis

RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-05

SUPPORT FOR KASHECHEWAN FIRST NATION'S ACCESS TO QUALITY NURSING SERVICES ON A TWENTY-FOUR HOUR BASIS

WHEREAS quality nursing services are vital to the delivery of health services guaranteed to First Nations people under the Treaty; and

WHEREAS quality nmsing services are available on a twenty-four hour basis for citizens in and out of the Mushkegowuk Ten-itory; and

WHEREAS Kashechewan First Nation does not have access to twenty-four hour quality health services through the Kashechewan Nursing Station because of staffing shortages and this has created unacceptable conditions, such as placing lives at risk;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly supp01i Kashechewan First Nation in its desire to have nursing services on a twenty-four hour basis;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mushkegowuk Council direct Medical Services Branch to take immediate steps to ensure that the Kashechewan Nursing Station is fully staffed and that nursing services are provided on a twenty-four hour basis.
