RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-14

TRANSFER OF CERTAIN MUSHKEGOWUK cmLD AND FAMILY SERVICES

WHEREAS New Post First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation and Missanabie Cree First Nation are cun-ently serviced by Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services and/or other non-native child and family services agencies; and

WHEREAS New Post First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation and Missanabie Cree First Nation are interested in exploring the possibilities and benefits of transferring from Kunuwanimano Child and Fanlily Services to Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Cllild and Family Services; and

WHEREAS having all Mushkegowuk commuruties services provided by the same regional organization, such as Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Family Services, supports the nation building process, for example by placing Cree cllildren in Cree homes to allow for the development and maintenance of their identity, language, and culh1re;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support New Post First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation and Missanabie Cree First Nation in exploring the possibilities

and benefits of receiving services from Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Child and Fan1ily Services;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly request Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Child and Family Services and Mushkegowuk Council staff to work with New Post First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation and Missanabie Cree First Nation in assessing the possible transfer of child and fan1ily services to Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Family Services.
