RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-15
EXPANDED CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE HEALING AND WELLNESS IN MUSHKEGOWUK TERRITORY
WHEREAS there is a need for further culturally appropriate healing and wellness services in Mushkegowuk conununities;
WHEREAS such expanded healing and wellness programs could include aftercare facilities and should include culturally based corrections approaches, such as utilizing the restoring effects of spending time on the land; and
WHEREAS such healing and wellness services should be explored further, including possible funding sources expansion and training;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support Lllhat1ves to explore an expansion of culturally appropriate healing and wellness services in Mushkegowuk communities such as through the establislunent .of a new residential treatment and counselling facility for conections, family and other issues and request Mushkegowuk Council staff to further investigate such possibilities.
