RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-21

WORKING GROUP TO DEVELOP PROACTIVE APPROACHES TO CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES REFORM

WHEREAS there are ongomg significant developments in child and family services refom1, which have implications for the delivery of services in the Mushkegowuk Territory; and

WHEREAS there are many concerns that the most recent changes to the Child and Family Services Act are increasingly intrusive to children and their fan1ilies; and

WHEREAS it is critical to be proactive in planning for Mushkegowuk and dealing with the continuing and future irnpos1t10n of provincial social legislation in our communities;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a working group be established consisting of representatives from Mushkegowuk First Nations, Mushkegowuk Council and Payukotayno: James and Hudson Bay Family Services to formulate strategies to develop a Mushkegowuk social services system as part of the Mushkegowuk nation building process.
