RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-03
HOLDING CELLS AND STAFF COVERAGE
WHEREAS there are many occasions when women and young people have been detained in holding cells which are inadequate and understaffed leading to inappropriate mixing of genders and age groups and;
WHEREAS there is a need for more cells to accommodate the various age and gender groups and matrons to perform body search and guard duties for female offenders;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mush.kegowuk Chiefs in Assembly directs and supports the Nish.nawbe Aski Police Services to secure funding for adequate facilities and staffing in the communities of Attawapiskat, Fort Albany and Kashechewan.
