RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-04

ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ALTERNATIVE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN ATTAWAPISKAT

WHEREAS the cunent justice system has failed and continues to fail to provide appropriate services to the people of Attawapiskat who are brought before the courts and;

WHEREAS Attawapiskat wishes to establish an alternative justice system to deal with issues, which are presently brought before the court and;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly passed Resolution 2000-08-03 and 2000-08-34 with respect to the Development of a Nlushkegowuk Judicial, Policing and Corrections System and Restorative Justice in Attawapiskat and;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly fully suppolis Attawapiskat First Nation in its efforts to establish an alternative justice system.
