RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-10
INDIAN RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL TREATMENT PROGRAMS AND THE ABORIGINAL HEALING FOUNDATION
WHEREAS the mandate of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation was to support the healing process of survivors of the Indian Residential School System and;
WHEREAS there have been a number of proposals submitted to the Foundation by post-secondary institutions seeking funds for the development of clinical based treatment programs that are lacking traditional Native values and traditions and;
WHEREAS many of these institutions' proposals are void of any form of legitimate Indian Residential School survivors' input and participation in the design and delivery of these said programs and;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council in Assembly implore the Aboriginal Healing Foundation to ensure that all proposals submitted to the Foundation for consideration be suppo1ted by a legitimate group or organization of Indian Residential School survivors.
