RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-11

NURSING SHORTAGE IN KASHECHEWAN

WHEREAS Kashechewan First Nation is currently experiencing a nursing shortage and;

WHEREAS Kashechewan First Nation currently only has two full time nurses and the community population warrants a need for a fmiher four nm·ses to bring the nursing staffing component to a total of six full time nurses and;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly adopted Resolution 2000-08-05 concerning the staffing shortage at Kashechewan Nursing Station and access to quality nursing services on a 24 hour basis;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council in Assembly hereby reaffinns resolution 2000-08-05 and fully supports the Kashechewan First Nation's efforts in approaching Health Canada -First Nations and Inuit Health Branch for the provision for six nursing positions in the community of Kashechewan.
