Youth Access to Recreational Facilities

RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-16

YOUTH ACCESS TO RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

WHEREAS Youth require facilities to carry out sports and recreational activities to meet their needs and;

WHEREAS recreational facilities that do exist within the Mushkegowuk communities have high rental costs which sometimes preclude access by youth and;

WHEREAS through past experience, youth are denied access to these facilities because of concerns about vandalism and damage to facilities when access is allowed and;

WHEREAS youth need access to these facilities during agreed upon designated times and without discrimination;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly encourage Mushkegowuk communities to seek funding opportunities to subsidize organizations that operate these facilities to minimize youth costs, which will allow youth easier and more equitable access to the respective facilities during weekdays, evenings and weekends.
