RESOLUTION NO. 2001-09-19

YOUTH PEER COUNSELLING SKILLS MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS

WHEREAS many Mushkegowuk youth receive Peer Counselling training from Nislmawbe Aski Nation; and

WHEREAS those trained as Peer Counsellors need to maintain the skills they have acquired; and

WHEREAS Peer Counselling provides Mushkegowuk youth with the opportunity to assist their peers and this in tum provides many benefits to youth including increasing their self esteem; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly mandate the Mushkegowuk Youth Department to develop and maintain programs that will assist youth who have participated in Peer Counsellor training to maintain the skills they have acquired.
