RESOLUTION NO. 2002-09-19
SUPPORT FOR ECHOES OF THE WORLD -WORLD DRUM FESTIVAL
WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council represents and promotes the interests of its member First Nations and their community members, and;
WHEREAS the fow1ders of the World Drum Festival entitled ECHOES OF THE WORLD are members of the Missanabie Cree First Nation, and;
WHEREAS June 21st, which is also the summer solstice is recognized as Aboriginal Solidarity Day, and;
WHEREAS it is planned to hold the World Drun1 Festival on June 21, 2003 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to promote healing and peace throughout the world, and;
WHEREAS the goals of ECHOES OF THE WORLD include the promotion of cultural understanding and acceptance, inter-racial participation and healing of the Earth;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the aims of ECHOES OF THE WORLD and wishes to act as a sponsor of the 1st international drum festival by acting as a vehicle for monies and donations to flow through.
