Resolution No. 2003-09-06
NATURAL RESOURCES PROTOCOL
WHEREAS there is no protocol in place between the Federal, Provincial and First Nation governments for natural resource extraction within First Nation Territories;
WHEREAS there is no regulation for First Nation consultation or participation in regards to natural resource extraction within their territory;
WHEREAS there is no forum to address outstanding issues affecting the natural resources of the traditional territories of Mushkegowuk First Nations;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Mushkegowuk Council and Mushkegowuk First Nations develop a protocol with the Federal, Provincial and First Nation governments to address the lack of participation and consultation in natural resources extraction in First Nations territories.
