CHILDREN'S HEARINGS COMMUNITIES
AID SOCIETY
WHEREAS Family Court hearings are not currently held in our communities, but rather, they are held in southern communities;
WHEREAS our communities cannot always afford to send a representative to southern communities to attend the Family Court hearings;
WHEREAS Indian and Northern Affairs Canada has cut funding for a Band Representative for court sittings;
WHEREAS participation by members of our communities in Family Court hearings is essential for our views to be heard and for our communities to have a say in the future of our children.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the Family Court hearings to be held in each of the Mushkegowuk communities.
