SUPPORT FOR ECHOES OF THE WORLD -DRUM FESTIVAL
WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council represents and promotes the interests of its member First Nations and their community members;
WHEREAS the founders of the World Drum Festival entitled ECHOES OF THE WORLD are members of Missanabie Cree First Nation;
WHEREAS June 21, the summer solstice, is also recognized as Aboriginal Solidarity Day;
WHEREAS it is planned to hold the World Drum Festival on June 19-20, 2004 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to promote healing and peace throughout the world;
WHEREAS the goals of ECHOES OF THE WORLD include the promotion of cultural understanding and acceptance, inter-racial participation, and healing of the Earth;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly supports the aims of Echoes of the World and agrees to continue to act as a sponsor for flow-through of funds for the 2nd International Drum Festival.
