Emergency Services & Evacuations
WHEREAS upon declaration of an emergency cns1s within any of our Mushkegowuk First Nation communities, on occasion, the Provincial and Federal governments have verbally authorized our First Nation organizations and/or agencies to act in their capacity as providers of first response to communities in crisis; and
WHEREAS it has been the experience of our First Nation organizations and/or agencies to experience difficulty in seeking reimbursement of their operational funds disbursed as first response to the emergency crisis;
WHEREAS it is recognized that a need exists to establish a formalized agreement with the corresponding Provincial and Federal governments for reimbursement of actual costs related to such emergencies.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Assembly mandates the Grand Chief to pursue a Tripartite Agreement with the respective Provincial and Federal governments specific to financial reimbursement of expenditures incurred by internal First Nation organizations or agencies in the capacity of first response to communities in crisis.
