Resolution No. 2006-09-28

Mushkegowuk Territory Transportation Study

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council through Assembly Resolution 1995-10-09 endorsed a study to be undertaken to examine the development and construction of an all season road to link the communities ·of Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat following the Ontario Government's implementation of the Highway Traffic Act in the Mushkegowuk territory;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council was able to secure financing to undertake and complete the initial study to conduct a needs assessment to confirm transportation options worthy of detailed exploration;

WHEREAS it is recommended by the delegates in Assembly that the findings of the Mushkegowuk Transportation Study be received and that the concept of an All Season Road between the communities from Attawapiskat to Moosonee with a connection to the south be endorsed for further study.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs in Assembly mandates Mushkegowuk Council to secure funding required to advance the project to have a

pre-feasibility study of functional feasibility, cost and initiation of an environmental assessment process that investigates the cultural, economic and natural environmental implications in advancing the concept of an All Season Road.
