Support to James Bay Employment & Training (JBET)

WHEREAS JBET was incorporated in November 2005 for the delivery of training to member First Nations and other aboriginal communities in preparation for potential employment opportunities with the DeBeers Victor Mine Project; and

WHEREAS Human Resources Social Development (HRSDC) entered into a funding agreement with JBET for a three year period ending 2008; and

WHEREAS JBET has successfully obtained from HRSDC an extension for an additional year of training for potential employment opportunities; and

WHEREAS HRSDC has determined that this extension of an additional year of training be without additional funding to the original three year agreement.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly supports James Bay Employment & Training to have Human Resources Social Development Canada provide the necessary additional training funds concurrently with the one year extension.
