Support to Strengthen Relationship between James Bay Employment & Training (JBET) and Mushkegowuk Council

WHEREAS there continues to be an increased growth in the number of regional resource and economic ventures impacting our various individual and collective First Nations; and

WHEREAS JBET was implemented in November 2005 for the delivery of training to member First Nations within Mushkegowuk communities in preparation for potential employment and training opportunities with the DeBeers Victor Mine Project; and

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council and JBET developed and implemented a working relationship through the Mushkegowuk Employment and Training Services (METS) as defined by a Service Agreement; and

WHEREAS in the best interests of our member First Nation individuals and communities, it is imperative that this relationship be strengthened and supported to the mutual benefit of the people served;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Assembly fully endorses and vigorously supports a continued working relationship between Mushkegowuk Council and James Bay Employment & Training regarding potential employment and training opportunities relating to resource and economic development within Mushkegowuk First Nation communities.
