Patient Housing in Moose Factory

WHEREAS a new Dialysis Wing within the Weeneebayko General Hospital (WGH) was officially opened this winter to serve patients within the Mushkegowuk region; and

WHEREAS patients and family members from the coastal communities requiring both chemo and dialysis treatment desire to limit their travel to Moose Factory as opposed to distant locations such as Timmins or Kingston; and

WHEREAS these patients and family members are experiencing difficulty in accessing these services due to hardship caused by the lack of housing available in Moose Factory.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly mandates the Grand Chief and the executive to identify funding to pursue a joint venture with the respective member First Nations toward the acquisition and provision of housing facilities in support of patients from all communities accessing services located at Moose Factory.
