Sagashtawao FamilyNouth Needs Assessment
WHEREAS the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge was established to help our people heal themselves from the devastating effects of alcohol and illegal drug use and the abuse of medical drugs; and
WHEREAS one of the primary goals of Sagashtawao Healing Lodge is to support and encourage a lifestyle free from alcohol and drug abuse; and
WHEREAS the mandate of Sagashtawao Healing Lodge is to provide services to the Mushkegowuk communities and surrounding areas to persons ages 18 and over; and
WHEREAS there is no local family or youth treatment centre for families in the Mushkegowuk communities to attend; and
WHEREAS it is critical that any family or youth treatment facilities or programs be culturally appropriate to First Nations people in general and Mushkegowuk persons in particular;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council Assembly support the goal and efforts of Sagashtawao Healing Lodge to complete a Community Needs Assessment to determine the need for a family/youth treatment centre for the

Mushkegowuk communities and the James and Hudson Bay area; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Sagashtawao Healing Lodge report back to the Mushkegowuk Council Assembly on the findings of the Community Needs Assessment; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any such family or youth treatment facilities or programs be culturally appropriate to First Nations people in general and Mushkegowuk persons in particular.

WHEREAS Sagashtawao Healing Lodge was established to help our people heal themselves from the devastating effects of alcohol and illegal drug use and the abuse of medical drugs; and

WHEREAS it is critical that any treatment facilities or programs be culturally appropriate to First Nations people in general and Mushkegowuk persons In particular;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council Assembly encourage the social program workers in Mushkegowuk member communities to give serious consideration to, and if appropriate priority to, referring cases from their community to the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge in Moosonee, Ontario; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Sagashtawao Healing Lodge ensure that all individuals referred to it for treatment can
