Continuation of "Aboriginal Healing Foundation" Youth Program Funding
WHEREAS the Aboriginal Healing Foundation has in the past provided valuable funding for programs for youth in the communities of the Mushkegowuk First Nations; and
WHEREAS youth programs in Mushkegowuk First Nation territory, such as Youth and Elders gatherings, Spiritual Health programs and the Regional Youth Council, have helped develop future Mushkegowuk leadership through increased confidence, leadership experience and increased hope for the future; and
WHEREAS existing funding from Aboriginal Healing Foundation is due to expire in 2010;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and delegates in Assembly strongly affirm the critical importance of the healthy and meaningful development of the youth in Mushkegowuk First Nation communities, for the future of the Mushkegowuk people, of Ontario, and of Canada; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and delegates in Assembly express appreciation to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the valuable and effective funding of Mushkegowuk youth funding in the past, and invite and urge the Healing Foundation to continue and renew this funding past the current term.
