Annual CreeFest 2011

Resolution No. 2010-09-17

WHEREAS the Mamohitowin of the Omushkegowuk support and recognize the importance and many benefits of conducting the Annual CreeFest event; and

WHEREAS we the Omushkegowuk have always recognized the critical importance of the preservation and practice of our culture and our spiritual beliefs; and

WHEREAS one of the objectives of CreeFest is to preserve and promote our culture; and

WHEREAS the Omushkegowuk Youth are requesting that they be provided with more opportunities to participate in regional events that promote our culture and spiritual beliefs;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the 25th Annual Mamohitowin of the Omushkegowuk direct the Mushkegowuk Council to review the Annual CreeFest to insure that it includes a Youth Cultural Event; and

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 2011 CreeFest be hosted by the community of Moosonee.
