Technical Services Department

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council Technical Services department has evaluated the process of a potential transfer of its programs and services to the Mushkegowuk office in Timmins, ON; and

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council Technical Services presented to the Council of Chiefs in January 2011, the long-standing idea of relocation of its department to Timmins, ON, furthermore; support for relocation comes from various Mushkegowuk First Nations technical personnel and general membership; and

WHEREAS Timmins is known as a regional services center for the Mushkegowuk communities, with· a variety of technical resources such as engineers, architectural consultants, building suppliers and other related professionals; allowing face-to-face access to these resources on behalf of our member First Nations, and providing prompt attention to their technical needs; and

WHEREAS The relocation will provide more opportunities for technical trainin_g sessions and preparation programs and make use of instructors, technical organizations, and other facilities available in the surrounding area; and

WHEREAS Technical Services can offer additional support to the Mushkegowuk First Nations involved in resource development projects and help sustain partnerships with associated industries;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT

the Mamowihitowin of Omushkegowuk recognize the advantages of relocation to Timmins and directs the Mushkegowuk Council Technical services to initiate and implement the relocation of their programs and services to the Mushkegowuk Council Timmins office;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council Technical Services relocation process be implemented with a minimum interruption of programs and services to the Mushkegowuk First Nations.
