Mushkegowuk Working Group on Non-Insured Health Benefits in the Weeneebayko Area
WHEREAS the Omushkegowuk negotiated and are guaranteed the provision of health services under the James Bay Treaty -Treaty No. 9; and
WHEREAS the Non-Insured Health Benefits program that is currently administered by Weeneebayko Area Health Authority for the Mushkegowuk First Nations does not adequately meet the medical transportation and other non-insured health needs of the Omushkegowuk; and
WHEREAS as directed by the Omushkegowuk, the Mushkegowuk Council and the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority conducted meetings to address the Non-Insured Health Benefits program and services, and have agreed to establish a Working Group that will be mandated by an ·approved Terms of Reference to research and develop a work plan / report by March 31, 2012,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the delegates of the 2011 Mamowihitowin support and direct the Mushkegowuk Council and Weeneebayko Area Health Authority to
finalize the Terms of Reference for the Working Group, and to complete and submit a Mushkegowuk Non-Insured Health Benefits Program report by March 31, 2012.
