Fort Albany Women's Shelter
WHEREAS the E Skwa We Sa Ka Skae Ni Mo Wi Ka Mik is a newly established shelter situated in Fort Albany for women in the region experiencing domestic violence; and
WHEREAS the mandate of E Skwa We Sa Ka Skae Ni Mo Wi Ka Mik is to provide victims of domestic violence short term safe housing, to provide victims with education on domestic violence, safety planning, parenting, healthy relationships, counselling, addictions/relapse prevention, and employment skills/training, to assist children who have witnessed the abuse, and to assist women to locate housing and move on from domestic violence to healthy independent living; and
WHEREAS E Skwa We Sa Ka Skae Ni Mo Wi Ka . Mik is seeking Omushkegowuk support to develop its organizational structure at the regional _level;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Deputy Grand Chief be directed to assist the staff of the E Skwa We Sa Ka Skae Ni Mo Wi Ka Mik to organize a Strategic Planning Process that will establish an organizational structure governed by Omushkegowuk communities.
