Omushkegowuk Earning Elected Positions in the Ontario and Canadian Governments

WHEREAS the Omushkegowuk are citizens within our sacred Homelands, the province of Ontario, and country of Canada; with special rights, privileges and opportunities; and

WHEREAS there are many natural young leaders within the Mushkegowuk First Nations that are as capable as the non­aboriginal people to represent Ontarians and Canadians at Ontario's Legislature in Toronto and the House of Commons in Ottawa; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the delegates of this Mamowihitowin acknowledge, recognize and respectfully appreciate Mr. Leonard Rickard, Liberal Candidate for the Ontario's 2011 Provincial Election, a young citizen of the Moose Cree First Nation for showing leadership and being a positive role model for youth; and

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the delegates of this Mamowihitowin strongly encourage our youth to include within their personal and professional aspirations, to someday secure a publicly elected position with the provincial and federal governments.
