Northern Mineral Technical Table
WHEREAS, Mushkegowuk Council is a regional organization that represents the political interests of seven member First Nations, and
WHEREAS, the intention of the Lands & Resources department is to support the aspirations of the First Nations of Mushkegowuk to be an integral part of any resource development occurring on their traditional territories, both in decision making and full economic participation;
WHEREAS there is a need to develop a working relationship with MNDM on issues and concerns of mutual interest regarding resource development, mining cycle, mining exploration and environment;
And WHEREAS Minister Gravelle of MNDM expressed an interest in the development of a Northern Mineral Technical Table for Mushkegowuk;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the Lands & Resources department to work closely with MNDM on the development of a Mineral Technical Table and the development of a Terms of Reference to be approved by the Council of Chiefs; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the Lands & Resources department to apply for capacity funding opportunities through MNDM to administer a Northern Mineral Technical Table.
