Support for Collective Applications for the Funding of GIS Education

WHEREAS, Mushkegowuk Council is a regional organization that represents the political interests of seven member First Nations, and

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Lands & Resources Department, GIS Centre has experienced staff in GIS/lnformation Management to support GIS Education at our First Nation Schools; and

WHEREAS there is a need to work together at the Regional and Community levels to support the Education of all K-12 students;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the GIS Centre to work closely with the Omushkegowuk Education Department, our member First Nation Schools and in conjunction with the local community elders and members to develop 'GIS in the Classroom'; and

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the GIS Centre to apply for collective funding opportunities that will benefit all Mushkegowuk First Nation Schools and

Training Centres in their pursuit of equal GIS Education.
