To Establish Mushkegowuk Council Economic Development Department

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council economic development position was recently established to pursue intensively economic development opportunities in the region, in partnership and collaboration with the member communities.

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council in the past, had an economic development department which coordinated economic development efforts and initiatives, but was subsequently non-existent in the recent past.

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council Is In collaboration with the City of Timmins developing a work plan to implement the Mushkegowuk Timmins Economic Alliance (MTEA) and furthering such collaborative tables with. other communities and municipalities in the region.

WHEREAS the re-establishment of the economic development department will provide direction and support in two broad areas of economic development; community development programs and business development in the region.

WHEREAS the economic development department can also focus on supporting capacity development for economic

development staff in member communities and help sustain partnership with community development agents.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the delegates of Mamowihitowin of Omushkegowuk recognize the advantages of an economic development department and directs the Mushkegowuk Council Executive Director and the Regional Coordinator of Economic Development to implement the said establishment of an economic development department under the current structure reporting to the Executive Director.
